Ten CMMB-enabled Digital TV Handsets to Launch in July

Guangzhou Zhujiang Mobile Multimedia Information announced on June 3 that ten digital TV phone based on China's homegrown CMMB (China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting) standard will be launched in Guangzhou in July 2008, China Telecom Newswire reported, adding that the devices will be available for users in the province soon after the launch.

With a price tag between 1,000 RMB (US$144.3; US$1 = 6.92 RMB) and 3,000 RMB (US$433.0), these CMMB-enabled devices will be manufactured by Lenovo Mobile, Motorola, Zhong Xing Telecom Equipment, and Tianyu Technology, according to the same report. In related news, a CMMB-enabled MP4 player will be launched soon in mid-June by Chinese consumer electronics maker Aigo.
